The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has issued a stern ultimatum to the government, demanding the implementation of an arbitration decision handed down by the National Labour Commission (NLC) by May 31st, 2024, to ensure industrial harmony.

The President of CETAG, Mr. Prince Obeng-Hemah, underscored that the NLC had instructed the government last year to fulfill the terms outlined for teachers.

This directive came after CETAG heeded the call to end their strike action last year.

However, despite their compliance, the government has yet to fulfill its obligations.

Addressing the press earlier today, Mr. Obeng-Hemah emphasized that by the end of May, they expect the government to address several outstanding issues.

These include the failure to compensate members with one month's salary for additional duties performed in 2022 and the payment of agreed-upon salary applicable to certain members employed in public universities.

Furthermore, Mr. Obeng-Hemah highlighted that their dedication to serving the state has often been taken for granted by their employers (government).

He made it clear that silence will no longer be tolerated, urging stakeholders to take decisive action to uphold industrial peace.
