Entertainment Industry Shunned DJ Amess - Kojo Preko Dankwa

Radio presenter, Kojo Preko Dankwa, has stated that the entertainment industry was unfair to DJ Amess, the late manager of Hiplife artiste Castro.

DJ Amess died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday morning after a short illness.

He was well known in entertainment circles not only as a talent manager but as a pundit who had insight into the workings of the industry.

Amess had been unwell for some time and recently there were reports about him soliciting for funds from people to settle his hospital bills.

Kojo Preko Dankwa, who works with the Class Media Group, told Graphic Showbiz that DJ Amess had paid his dues to the industry and did not deserve the treatment he got.

“Amess told me he reached out to a lot of people in the entertainment industry but had no help. I personally knew how he was struggling to survive because things were not easy for him.

"He had family issues and dealing with his health was another big problem for him. I tried my best in my own way but I know the entertainment industry could have helped him,” he said.

According to Kojo Preko, he knew a lot of people in the entertainment who could have helped DJ Amess when he needed money to sort himself out but they didn’t.

“He told me a number of times how no one was willing to support him especially those in the entertainment industry when he needed them most," he said.

Giving details about his death, Kojo Preko, who revealed that he spoke to DJ Amess on Wednesday, said his friend told him he had high blood pressure and could not walk because of a knee problem.

“Just yesterday he told me from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital that his blood pressure had come down and he was hoping to come home soon only for me to get a call from his daughter that her father had passed on. I am still shocked because we were in constant communication and I was hoping he would get well soon,” he stated.

DJ Amess left behind three children.
