The Ghana Committed Drivers Association has rejected the new transport fare announced by the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU).
 
The Chairman of the group, Charles Danso described his mother union as ‘criminals’ who are strategically stealing from the poor masses.
 
“The 13% they have announced is not true. I have documents available saying otherwise. They are stealing with percentage,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

From Saturday, June 5, road transport fares will be increased by 13%.
 
The new prices will affect all forms of transport including Inter-city (trotro), Intercity (long distance) and shared taxis.
 
GPRTU in a statement said the increase is to accommodate the increase in fuel prices announced in May 2021, after long negotiations with stakeholders.
